Dr Karmen Medica's book on migration published in Koper

A new monograph by Dr Karmen Medica (Croatia, Pula) and Goran Lukič (Slovenia, Ljubljana) titled ‘Migration Circulus Vitiosus – working and living conditions of migrants in Slovenia’ has been published in Slovene. It was published by the Kopar based Annales University Press.

Karmen Medica (Pula) graduated in Sociology from Faculty of Sociology, Political Sciences and Journalism – today’s Faculty of Social Sciences in 1984 (mentor Stane Južnič, Ph.D.). After the graduation she began working as a researcher at the Institute for Ethnic Studies in Ljubljana. During her work at the Institute, she was engaged with several humanistic and social science projects dealing with themes of ethnic minorities, migrations and media. Furthermore, she enhanced her studies at universities in Italy (Bari, Napoli, Trento), Spain (Santiago de Compostela) and Great Britain (Oxford), and began with field-work studies in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, and Spain. She received her Ph.D. in Anthropology of everyday life from the Institum Studiorum Humanitatis – Faculty for post-graduate humanistic studies in Ljubljana in 2002 (mentor: Milan Bufon, Ph.D.). She was elected Assistant professor in the field of Regional multiculturality (2004) and Social Anthropology (2008) at the University of Primorska. Lives and works in Slovenia.

Goran Lukič is a PhD researcher at the Faculty for Social Science in Ljubljana. He works as adviser for social issues, labour market and migrations at the Association of Free Trade Unions of Slovenia.
