Zagreb Dance Company performed @ tanz_hause festival

Zagreb Dance Company was invited to perform their dance piece Under The Eyelids early this week during tanz_hause festival at ARGEkultur Saal in Salzburg. The performance was choreographed by Laura Aris Alvarez.

Croatian ballet dancers to star in Bermuda Civic Ballet's 'Romeo & Juliet'

The Bermuda Civic Ballet will celebrate its 40-year anniversary with an open-air production of 'Romeo & Juliet' at Fort Hamilton. The production starts on Wednesday 22nd August and runs every night until Saturday 25th August. The show,  choreographed by Svebor Secak, will feature principals of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, Tomislav Petranovic and Edina Plicanic.

Theatre Trafik & The Necessary Stage to premiere Crossings

Theatre Trafik form Rijeka and The Necessary Stage from Singapore will premiere their joint project – the performance ‘Crossings’ at 16 August in Theatre Esplanade – The Studio Season in Singapore, with additional perfromances on 17, 18 and 19 August. The Ctoatian premiere is planned for 19 August at the National Theatre Ivan Zajca in Rijeka.

Croatian success in European projects

Among nine members of the roof European circus and street art organization network Circostrada’s Advisory board, Ivan Kralj, the president of Mala performerska scena, was elected in the last week meeting held in Glasgow. The newly established Advisory board will have the task of revising membership of existing members as well as deciding on new member applications.

Petra Zanki as artist-in-residence in Leipzig

Dancer and choreographer Petra Zanki has been invited to partake the artist-in-residence programme jointly with her colleague Britta Wirthmüller at the Schaubühne Lindenfels in Leipzig. It will run through 30 June to 12 August and during the time this already acknowledged dance duo will work on their new dance piece entitled ‘Stumbling Dance’. A premier is expected to be on 14 and 14 September in the same theatre.

The Curators' Piece in Sweden and Poland

The Curators' Piece project by Tea Tupajić and Petra Zanki continues with presentations on international festivals. This time the project will be presented between 12 and 14 April during  TUPP Festival in Uppsala (Sweden) and during Polish Festival of Small Theatre Forms 'Kontrapunkt' in Szczcecin, which is set to take place from 16 to 22 April.

Giuseppe Chico and Barbara Matijević will have guest appearances with their performances 'Forecasting' and 'I am 1984' in France and Italy during March. Performance ‘Forecaster’ will be presented on March 23 in Milan during the Uomo Festival and on March 29 at the National Theatre La Passarelle in St. Brieuc. Perforations Festival to be presented in Brest

In 2012, from February 27 to March 3, Perforations Festival (Perforacije) will be present at the DañsFabrik Festival, in Brest, France, with the Contrefugue program. The festival is produced and presented at Le Quartz, one of France’s most important and relevant theaters having been tasked with the duties of a National Theater, Scène Nationale in French, in 2001.

The next guest performances of “Vierfüßer” by Zanki/Wirthmüller will take place at the Tanzquartier Vienna on the 4th and 5th of November, 20:30h. The performance is the second part of the cycle “Antibodies”, which was initiated in 2009 and deals with the movements and appearances of those human bodies that fall through the matrix of what we perceive as normality.

Zagreb: 45th International Folklore Festival

The 45th edition of the International Folklore Festival will be held in Zagreb from July 20 – 24, 2011. The Festival’s central program will feature folklore groups of emigrant Croats from other continents and Croats from European countries presenting the various ways in which they safeguard and present music and dance heritage.
