'Fitting Abstraction' for Venice Biennale of Architecture

Croatia will be presented at the Venice Biennale of Architecture which is set to take  place from 7 June to 23 November with the exhibition 'Fitting Abstraction'  covering Croatian architecture from 1914 to nowadays.

Karin Šerman, Croatia selector for the Venice Architecture Biennale

Karin Šerman has been appointed via call by the Croatian Ministry of Culture as a selector for 14th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice which is set to take place in 2014 under the guidance of Rem Koolhaas covering the subject titled 'Fundamentals / Absorbing Modernity: 1914-2014'. Šerman proposed the concept  'Culture of abstraction: Croatian architectural modernism 1914th - 2014th '.

Croatian pavillion at Venice Biennale

Croatia will be represented by a group of architects from the city of Pula at the 13th International Architecture Exhibition which is held in Venice from 29 August to 25 November.

Montenegrin Days of Oris

The city of Kotor in Montenegro will host the architectural symposium, Days of Oris, on 13 August at Dom kulture Nikola Đurković ,  organized by the well known magazine for architecture and culture Oris, based in Zagreb.

BLOOM project in London

Public intervention BLOOM by Alisa Andrašek and Jose Sanchez is on display during Olympic Games in London. BLOOM is an urban toy, a distributed social game and collective “gardening” experience that seeks the engagement of people in order to construct fuzzy BLOOM formations.

Tomislav Pavelić as selector and Pulska grupa as architects were nominated and selected for Croatian representatives on 13th Intl. Architecture Exhibition in Venice. This decision was made by the jury on public competition organized Croatian Ministry of Culture and Croatian Association of Architects.

Architects awarded at CEMEX in Mexico

Architects Tomislav Curkovic and Zoran Zidaric have been awarded with the CEMEX Building Award in the category Single family housing for their project Istranka in Zagreb, whilst in the category of Infrastructure the award has been appointed to Ante Uglesic for the project based in Zadar.

Observatory and Astro-park open in Makarska

A new astronomical observatory will open in Makarska on 25 July. The idea for the first observatory in the city came from astronomical association DAUP Orion three years ago.
