Architects awarded at CEMEX in Mexico

Architects Tomislav Curkovic and Zoran Zidaric have been awarded with the CEMEX Building Award in the category Single family housing for their project Istranka in Zagreb, whilst in the category of Infrastructure the award has been appointed to Ante Uglesic for the project based in Zadar.

Jury consisted of 18 experts from 9 countries have selected the best projects from12 countries following the criteria of innovation, concept, technique and aesthetics.  

The CEMEX Building Award began in Mexico in 1991 as a local competition, then in 2000 it became a nationwide award for Mexico, and finally in 2004 the competition began to expand internationally.

By 2005, the call for entries extended to 12 countries, a figure which grew to 24 in 2006. The 2007 and 2008 award competitions included entries from the United States, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Hungary, Australia, Puerto Rico, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Haiti, and Mexico.

The CEMEX Building Award continues to grow year on year consolidating itself as one of the most important awards in construction around the world, and this year we look forward to celebrating its 20th anniversary.
