One Take Film Festival 2012

time: 22.11.2012. - 24.11.2012.
place: Zagreb, Croatia
organiser: One Take Film Festival
One Take Film Festival will take place from 22nd until 24th November in cinema Tuškanac and the HAZU Gallery. The special guest for One Take’s sixth year will be the director of Before the Rain (1994) Milcho Manchevski.

Mančevski created the first important film that emerged from the post-Yugoslav context – he has succedeed delivering the most wanted commodity in the first half of the nineties: an artistic and political articulation of the Balkan confilicts and wars.

This first-class theme, as the critics labelled it, led the film to an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film, as well as The Golden Lion award, Fipresci UNESCO award, the Audience Award in Venice Film Festival in 1994, the Independent Spirit Award and many more.

After the exhibitions in GRID biennial in Amsterdam, the National Gallery in Sofia, Belgrade, Novi Sad and in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje, this year’s One Take Film Festival will host Mančevski’s photographic exhibition Five Drops of Dream from 21stNovember to 7thDecember. It comprises several thousands of photographs which Mančevki took between 1999 and 2010, showing various daily events, street scenes, street graffiti, sculptures, filmings, intimate scraps from his travels and wanderings around India, Asia, Africa, South and North America, from Mali to New York, from Tokyo to the deserted Macedonian Mariovo.
