2nd Zagreb International Blues Festival

2nd Zagreb International Blues Festival will take place from June 9th to 12th in Zagreb. The festival´s headliner will be internationally recognized harmonica (blues harp) musician Charlie Musselwhite.

Croatian Blues Forces established in July 2008, and with the help from the umbrella organization Croatian Musicians Union it acts as a section within the Union. Since 2010, Croatian Blues Forces (HBS) stand as an independent association, member of European Blues Union, and a subsidiary of The Blues Foundation (world federation of blues musicians and associations).

During the two years of the existence, they have achieved a series of well-known results in the field of promoting blues, both in Croatia and abroad. Along the blues nights and promotion of blues performers at concerts, records are being published, they take part in world and European blues competitions and conferences. They are participants of all three European Blues Conferences in Parma, Natodden and Hoondaraibia. In March 2011 they will take part at the 1st European Blues Assembly and European Blues Challenge.

Besides the existing six members of the EBU Committee presided by Thomas Ruf (Ruf Records, Germany) at the 3rd blues conference, an additional 5 members were nominated for the EBU committee, including the Croatian representative Drazen Buhin. The EBU’s main task is to promote blues, international exchange of blues musicians and information, education and various other activities.

Performers also take part at the world's largest international blues competition IBC – International Blues Challenge, which takes place in Memphis, Tennessee, USA.

The CBF association is chaired by Tomislav Goluban – President, Zoran Haraminčić Hara - Vice President, Drazen Buhin - Secretary and Sinisa Bizović - Executive Secretary. Blues in Croatia is very much alive, and obviously, getting more and more popular by the day!
