Croatian poet Luko Paljetak awarded Pushkin Medal

Croatian poet Luko Paljetak has been awarded the Pushkin Medal by the Academy of Russian Literature in recognition of his outstanding artistic contribution to contemporary European culture and his active participation in Russian-Croatian cultural cooperation, the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU) said on Wednesday.

Paljetak, a member of the HAZU, was awarded the medal on the occasion of his 70th birthday. Paljetak and Italian novelist Umberto Eco were the first foreigners to be admitted to the membership of the Academy of Russian Literature in 2011.
