place: Berlin, Croatia
organiser: Gestalten
Gestalten, a highly regarded publisher specializing in visual communications – design, architecture, art and photography – has organized an exhibition entitled Fully Booked: Ink on Paper, which opened its doors on March 14 at the Gestalten Space in Berlin.

The exhibition features seven books designed by Bruketa&Žinić OM, such as Podravka’s cookbook that has to be baked before use (Well Done), six Adris annual reports and the 5th Gimnazija Monograph. Subtitled as an Exhibition of Design and Concepts for New Publications, the organizers say this international exhibition showcases more than 200 innovative books and other print products at the vanguard of a new era for printed publications—one that is likely to be the most exciting in their entire history.

The announcement also states how from personal projects with the smallest print runs to premium artist books or brand publications, the selection of work presented in Fully Booked: Ink on Paper celebrates the tactile experience. Featuring innovative printing and binding techniques as well as radical editorial and design concepts, this work explores the distinctiveness of design, materials, workmanship, and production methods—and pushes their limits.

To give visitors an insightful overview of print’s lasting impact in our largely digital age, the show is structured into five sections that each represent a key role that print plays today: The Storyteller, The Showmaster, The Teacher, The Businessman, and The Collector.

The exhibition also features books designed by authors Coralie Bickford-Smith, Daniel Eatock, David Pearson, Double Standards, Erik Kessels, Heimann und Schwantes, Herburg Weiland, Isaac Tobin, Isabelle Vaverka, Jim Tierney, Johanna Fuchs, John Gall, Joost Grootens, Jung & Wenig, L2M3, Leftloft, Made Thought, Nicholas Felton, onestar press, Peter Mendelsund, Prill Vieceli Cremers, Ritator, Sam Ita, Stefan Sagmeister, Studio Laucke Siebein, Three Star Books, Visual Editions and Zumtobel.
