Croatian Roboticist at World Cup in Mexico

place: Mexico
Filip Kuzminski (12) will represent Croatia at the world robotics RoboCup in Mexico at the end of June after winning the Croatian Robot league.

Kuzminski won the fourth round of the Croatian Robotics league which featured 39 teams from all over the country. The 12-year-old was the best out of 100 competitors. Filip started showing an interest in robotics last year and is interested in aircraft model making.

"When he grows up a bit more schools and companies from Austria and Germany will be fighting for him," said Filip's mentor from his school in Varazdin in Croatia's north.

"I practice and learn programming a few hours every week," said Filip who developed a robot for the RoboCupRescue section, which are projects to specifically promote research in socially significant issues. RoboCupRescue includes real robots and simulation leagues.

"Such robots can be used in fires. They can enter the house in flames, to find and rescue the victim, so no need to risk your life firefighters," explained Kuzminski.
