Pula - Pecs sign protocol on cultural cooperation

Pecs Deputy Mayor Bertalan Toth and Pula Mayor Boris Miletic signed a protocol on cultural cooperation between the two cities in the northern Adriatic seaport of Pula on Wednesday.

Pula - is the largest city in Istria County, Croatia, situated at the southern tip of the Istria peninsula, with a population of 62,080 (2006). Like the rest of the region, it is known for its mild climate, tame sea, and unspoiled nature. The city has a long tradition of winemaking, fishing, shipbuilding, and tourism. Pula has also been Istria's administrative center since ancient Roman times.

Pecs is the fifth largest city of Hungary, located in the south-west of the country, close to its border with Croatia. It is the administrative and economical centre of Baranya county.

Pécs has been selected to be the European Capital of Culture in 2010 sharing the title together with Essen and Istanbul. The city's motto will be: "The Borderless City".
