Croatian actor Rade Serbedzija has been nominated for Canadian film award "Genie" for his role in "Fugitive Pieces" directed by Jeremy Podeswa.

Fugitive Pieces is a Canadian-Greek drama about a child who escapes from Poland during World War II and first heads to Greece before going to Canada. Serbedzija plays the role of a Greek archaeologist who saves the boy's life. The drama is based on a novel by Canadian writer Anne Michaels.
