Matija Ferlin: Sad Sam almost 6 to be premiered in Ljubljana

place: Ljubljana, Slovenia
Sad Sam Almost 6 the new solo work by Matija Ferlin comes as a continuation of the ongoing SaD SaM series that started in January 2004 in Amsterdam when the first SaD Sam (Now I am) was shown. Slovenian audience had a chance to see his SaD SaM (revised) in 2007 at the Mladi levi Festival in Ljubljana and also at Performa in Maribor.

In SaD SaM Almost 6, Ferlin stays honest to his strong discontinuities in narration and his desire to take body/mind/presence/absence to and over the edge. Investigating childhood beauty and terror, Ferlin is busy with the elimination of known, and within a linear structure, he stands in front of his memories and early childhood amnesia, bringing up a tender and poetic piece of work.

Matija Ferlin started his dance education at the age of six at the local dance studio for kids in Pula, Croatia, and he was a member of Pula's National Youth Theater from 1995-2000. Matija continued his dance education at Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt, where his principal instructors included Dieter Heitkamp, Thomas McManus, and Richard Siegel.

Ferlin is a graduate of The School for New Dance Development, Theaterschool Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Amsterdam. Matija has presented and performed his own work in Croatia and Amsterdam, and has worked with choreographers Keren Levi, Martin Butler, David Zambrano, Katrina Brown, Helena Golab and Ame Henderson. In the fall 2005 he has joined Sasha Waltz & Guests in Berlin.
