Exhibition “Croatian Folk Costumes” in Italy

It will present 24 representative costumes from 20 locations in Croatia, selected from the rich treasury of folk costumes which are stored in the collection of the Ethnographic Museum in Zagreb.

The project is part of the Adriatic cooperation programme INTERREG IIIA and the Municipal Council for Education, Culture and Sports of the City of Zagreb.
The catalogue will be published bilingually, in Italian and Croatian.

The costumes selected for the exhibition are the typical clothing of the rural population from the end of 19th century to first half of 20th century, when they disappeared from everyday use. Besides the clothing, the exhibition will also present remarkable photographs of the Croatian most prominent life photographer, Toso Dabac, from the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb.

The opening ceremony will host the folk ensemble 'Turopolje' as a live presentation of the exhibition's theme.

The authors of the exhibition are: Vesna Zoric and Nikolina Jelavic Mitrovic.
