The Weekend Media Festival will be held  from 23th to 25th September in Rovinj, Istria. Participants will be able to hear about new trends, regional similarities and diversities in the media world, networking with regional media, marketing and public relations and company/product/business-model promotion.

SFeraKon is the longest-running and the biggest annual Science Fiction convention in Croatia and this part of Europe. SFeraKon 2010 will be held from April 23 to 25 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb.

The 11th Istrakon 2010 science fiction convention will be held in Pazin, Istria from 26 to 28 March.

The 10th International Festival 'Naj, naj, naj' (The very best) will be held from 6 to 11 April at Zagreb theatres. The Zar ptica (Fire Bird) theatre organizer said on Wednesday that more than 5,000 visitors would ensure the festival’s renowned status in Croatia and abroad.

RAF - A Revue of Amateur Film is set to take place from 21st to 27th March in Zagreb. The Festival offers amateurs from Croatia and abroad an opportunity to screen their films; all films that make the competition are screened (without selection).

In the world of fairy-tales by Ivana Brlic-Mazuranic is a festival completely devoted to 'the Slavic Tolkien' Ivana Brlic Mazuranic which is set to take place in her birth place of Slavonski Brod in Eastern Croatia. During the festival's days the town will be governed by children, and the mayor of Slavonski Brod handed them symbolically the town keys.

The Soundwave Festival in Croatia has revealed the first details of this year’s line up with Toddla T, Benji B, Smith & Mighty, DJ Format and DJ Vadim all confirmed to appear at the event.

The 1st Festival of Croatian Animated Film dedicated to short animated films will be held on 21 and 22 February in Zagreb’s "Europe cinema".

The DORF 2010 documentary rock-film festival will be held from 4 to 7 March in Vinkovci, Zagreb and Rijeka. Festival organizer RARE, an association of film fans, said the festival would show documentary music films from eight countries this year.

The 6th ZagrebDox will be held from 28 February – 7 March on new location – in Movieplex, Kaptol Center. It will last eight days and will be screened some 140 documentaries.

The most anxiously awaited event in Samobor is definitely the local carnival, a rampant manifestation by which the people of Samobor chase away evil spirits from the year that just ended, bid goodbye to winter, and open their hearts and hopes to the upcoming spring. For a very long time, since 1855, Samobor has been the carnival centre of this part of Croatia.

The town of Pag on the northern Dalmatian island of the same name hosts the annual Pag Winter Carnival in February. People from the area dress up for the event, with the principal act of the carnival being the story of a female slave character called Robinja.

Dubrovnik Carnival dates back to the 14th century and maintains many of the original traditions to this day. People gather from surrounding areas to dress up in garish costumes, parading down the streets to the sound of trumpets and drums.

The Kastav carnival takes place annually between St Anthony's day (17 January) and Ash Wednesday (6 February).

The traditional, annual Rijeka International Carnival, a symbol of Rijeka and Kvarner -  will be held from 17 January until 14 February.

The New Circus Festival will contextualize this year the position of women in circus within the performative programme of the festival, as well as on conference. The festival is set to take place from 26th to 30th of November.

The 5th Festival of Croatian Music in Vienna, Austria, will take place from 5th Nov to 1st Dec 2009.

Device_art is a triennial international art exhibition dealing with the art of devices and robotics, first initiated in 2004. This year the festival will take place from 20th to 27th of October.

The fourth annual Foreign Books Days will be held in the Profil Megastore book-shop in the downtown Zagreb on 5-7 October.

For it's seventh edition, ZFF has spread all over Zagreb. ZFF have added three new locations - Tuškanac Cinema, Movieplex and Dokukino Croatia to the list of the old ones. The festival will take place from 18th to 24th of October.

Zagreb World Music Festival Nebo /New Ethno Basic Options; nebo also means sky in Croatian/ is the festival of the traditional, ethno, folk and local or world music. It includes international and local world music performers.

The sixth international "Blind in Theatre" festival will be held from 1 to 7 October in Zagreb. Blind and sight-impaired actors will perform in the plays, while established professional theatre artists will participate in their preparation.

The fourth Zagreb international chamber music festival 'Zagreb kom 4' will be held from 10 to 17 October at Hrvatski Glazbeni Zavod (Croatian Music Institute).

FoPA_09, Festival of Performing Arts, is taking place from 21st to 23rd August in Pula, Istria. The last Festival was organized in the ex military area Monumenti – Katarina, and this year it's moved in the city.

Špancirfest is a festival celebrating the city. It is a whirlpool of music, dance and laughter, an exciting walk made just for the sake of walking. This festival meets the already forgotten, people devote themselves to the city and the city responds back to them.  

The XIV Edition of the Biennial of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean takes place from 3rd to 12th September in Skopje (Macedonia). For the Biennial in Skopje 708 artists aged from 18 to 30, coming form 43 Euro-Mediterranean countries were selected.

PIF is an international puppet festival of largely professional puppet theatre groups. It is also a festival for any puppeteer or theatrician who uses puppetry as a means of artistic expression. Until now more than 450 theatres from all continents have participated. The festival is for both adults and children. 

3rd Vukovar film festival this year from 26th to 30th of August will host film projections on two locations: Danube barge (evening projections) and Ruzicka's house (daily projections).

Third Epiduarus Festival in Cavtat takes place from August 28 to September 22. The Festival has been founded and is directed by infatiguable Croatian pianist Ivana Marija Vidovic.

The festival is open to all new, innovative, personal, experimental, radical, subversive etc. Work (film, video, new media) of all genres and lengths, preferably from outside the mainstream, whether it was made on shoe string budget, or is a studio release.

The ninth festival of chamber music 'Julian Rachlin and Friends' will be held in the southern Adriatic resort of Dubrovnik from 31 August to 12 September.

The festival  S.A.F has an international character, and includes all forms of artistic expression, from music and stage performances, visual art projects to various types of street acrobatics and performances.

International Festival of Contemporary Theatre 'Zadar snova' will host 11 art productions by eminent international and local theatre companies in the fields of modern theatre practice, contemporary dance and music. The festival takes place from 6th to 14th of August in Zadar (Croatia).

The National Programme of the 56th Pula Film Festival , that will be held from 18 to 25 July, shall present a record ten films. Eight 35mm films shall be presented in the ancient Roman Arena, that can host up to 5000 spectators, and the two HD films at the new cinema, named after Pula born diva Alida Valli.

10th Svetvincenat Festival of Dance and Nonverbal Theatre is set to take place from 24th to 28th July in picturesque city of Svetvincenat (Saint Vincent) in Istria (Croatia).

This year's 55th Split Summer Festival will open on 14 July with a ballet-opera premiere "Carmina Burana", the intendant of the city's National Theatre (HNK) and Split Summer Festival director Milan Strljic told at news conference.

Having successfully completed its first decade, Motovun Film Festival will be offering film treats for the 11th time, from 27 to 31 July, on the beautiful Motovun Hill in the heart of Istria. The program will again include a selection of the best films made in independent productions and by less known cinematographies.

The 49th Musical Evenings at St. Donatus Church in Zadar will be held from 11 July until 4 August. Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi’s opera La Traviata will be among works to be performed this summer.

5th Annual Libertas Film Festival will be held from June 26th to June 30th, 2009 in the beautiful old town of Dubrovnik, 'The Pearl of Adritic', a city built in the 7th century, surrounded by protection walls and listed as the World Heritage UNESCO site.

The spirit of chamber theatre in Umag is impersonated in Mr Antonio Coslovich, who in the 1820s built 'Al Leon d'oro' Hotel in which he equipped a small theatre, the first in this region. Zlatni Lav ('Golden Lion') festival is a selected revue of contemporary theatre on a given topic, in Istrian intercultural spirit.

EUROKAZ will host this year again mixed programme of new theatre tendencies from around the globe. It is set to take place from 20th to 28th June in Zagreb (Croatia). EUROKAZ is not limited by genre. It encompasses theatre, dance, performance and other related art forms.

The second "Mediterranean Film Festival Split" will be held from 25 to 30 May at open-air Bacvice cinema and Zlatna Vrata cinema. The festival will screen films from the Mediterranean region. The program includes 14 full-length feature films, five short films, concerts, exhibitions and other events.

Comic strip fans will get their creative portion of comics in the city of Makarska from 21st to 23rd of May. This year the festival hosts internationally recognized cartoonist such as: Gallieno Ferri , Antonio Serra, Roberto De Angelis, Gigi Simeoni, Roberto Diso and Peter Milligan.

FAKI (Festival of Alternative Theatrical Expression) is a non-profit theatre festival that supports subversive and marginal theatre projects. The festival is organized by the Autonomous Cultural Centre ATTACK! (formerly Autonomous Culture Factory). This is the 12th year FAKI is taking place.

The 26th Dance Week Festival is set to take place from 25th of May to 3rd of June in Zagreb. Dance Week Festival will see a record number of Croatian performers in addition to offerings from a range of internationally acknowledged authors and companies including acclaimed Nederlands Dans Theatre (NDT).

The World Festival of Animated Film - Animafest 2009 this year presents feature films and a variety of additional programmes with an aim to spread the spirit of animated cinematography world wide. The festival takes place from 2nd to 7th June in Zagreb.

The IDES international festival of urban culture is to be held from 19 – 21 June in Zagreb. Local and foreign electronic and rock musicians such as TBF, Antentat, Mikrofonija, Picksiebner, Bas Mooy, Mary, Ogi, Teo Harouda, Astralis and Bassinvaders will be among the performers.

Queer Zagreb, festival which hosted so far some of the biggest figures of contemporary dance expression, controversial video projections, motivated discussions and artistic considerations is set to take place from 5th to 10th of May in Zagreb.

The third International Guitar Festival in Split began yesterday (Weds) with Marin Jerkunica's band and a jazz concert by the Elvis Stanic Group. Italian guitar player Aniello Desiderio will perform at 9pm today, followed by Russian Irina Kulikova tomorrow and Montenegrin Goran Krivokapic on Saturday.

EUROKAZ - The International Festival of New Theatre - takes place annually in Zagreb in the second half of June. Since its beginning in 1987 EUROKAZ has presented over 300 artists and companies from all over the world and is considered the major theatre festival in the region.

The spring edition of Animafest 2008 is completely dedicated to short animated films with varieties of programme including retrospectives, exhibitions, lectures, meetings and the like. The festival takes place from 31st May to 5th June in Zagreb.

UrbanFestival deals with a concept of public, especially that of public space, through its thematic focuses, programme selection, but also through its specific, often experimental, organizational schemes.

9th Thirsty Ear Festival has expanded their programme this year hosting important names from the fields of avant-garde jazz, experimental rock and underground dance music totally out of mainstream routes.

REZ Theatre is so far the only Croatian theatre institution which has almost completely accepted the new trends of internet development called Web 2.0. Recently they have built the first Croatian Theatre in the Second Life virtual community.

An Exhibition of the graphic-bibliophile map ‘Federico Garcia Lorca’ by the author Toni Politeo will be staged at the Art Centre in Berlin on 9th March. At the opening ceremony musicians Monika Leskovar (Croatia) and Sara Minemoto (Japan) will perform for the first time a piece by Giovanni Sollimo.

HDLU will present the art works of their members at the ‘Roman Petrović’ Gallery in Sarajevo. The presentation of the ‘59th HDLU Annual Exhibition’ will take place between 7th and 14th March.

The International Et'no Festival will take a place between 7th and 11th March in the Zagreb clubs KSET and Pauk. The intention of the organizers was to introduce and familiarize the public with different cultures and nations through music that characterizes the tradition of these cultures from around the world.

The Exhibition ‘Van Gogh, Mondrian and the Hague School’ will be on view between 3rd February and 4th June in the Klovićevi dvori Gallery in Zagreb. The exhibition will present about eighty art works by Van Gogh, Mondrian and ten artists from the Hague School of painting that influenced Van Gogh’s and Mondrian’s art work.

The exhibition ‘Contemporary Croatian Drawing’ was opened on 2nd March in The Porcia Palace in Vienna. The exhibition includes 120 drawings by approximately sixty artists selected by curator Tonko Maroević.

The exhibition presents works of 16 artists of the Croatian origin who are living and working in New York City, and/or who have been inspired by the City during their residency programs. The exhibition considers constructing and deconstructing a myth of New York as the apex of contemporary visual art. 

The Art photographer Stanko Abadžić will present for the first time his new cycle ‘Lights and Shadow’ of black/white photographs ‘Svjetlosi zapisi’ (‘Luminous memorials’) in renowed Photo Gallery Photon in Ljubljana (Slovenia). The Exhibition will be opened on 23rd February till 23rd March.

The Conference - 4th Intergovernmental ‘Biodiversity in Europe’ will take place at the Plitvice Lakes National Park (Croatia) between 22nd and 24th February. The Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) have increasingly called for a focus on implementation of the decisions of the Conference of the Parties and the programmes of work of the Convention as well as the achievement of the 2010 biodiversity targets in the Strategic Plan of the Convention.

The Exhibition 'Oris ideja' will be on view between 16th February and 1st April in Gallery Aluminij in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Exhibition will present original designs of prominent world architects from the collection of Magazine for Architecture and Culture ‘Oris’ in which they were published.

An international competition for young violinists and pianists organised by Zagreb’s Pavao Markovac Music School will take place in Zagreb, from 16th to 19th February. The event alternates each year between competitions in the violin and piano disciplines. This year’s “Etudes & Scales” competition is for young pianists and covers competitors up to 19 years of age in five age groups. 

An international festival of documentary film that aims to offer the Croatian public a window to contemporary, in particular regional, documentary film production of all topics, running times and production technologies will be held between 19th and 26th February in Zagreb.

On Thursday 7th February was opened the exhibition ‘Croatian Lighthouses’ in the building of European commission Berlaymont as a part of this week’s presentation of Croatian culture in Bruxelles (Belgium). The exhibition presents 78 photographs of Croatian lighthouses.

The Exhibition 'Croatian heritage sites on the World Heritage List' will be opened on 9th February in the National Art Gallery in Tirana (Albania) and it will be on view until 28th February. The whole project is a part of the Meetings of the Council of Ministers of Cultural Affairs from the South Eastern European countries.

On September 28, 2005, in the Taizi Harada Museum in Suwa, Japan, the exhibition Taizi Harada and Fellow Painters from Croatia was opened. This is the third project put on in the last two decades by the leading Tokyo-based newspaper Asahi Shimbun in collaboration with the Croatian Museum of Naive Art.

The Exhibition CROssoverUK will be on view between 8th and 14th February in the Gallery Miroslav Kraljević in Zagreb. It is a pilot program of artist exchange and establishing contact between Croatian and British organizations working in non-central regions.

The ARCO’06 Fair will take place between 8th and 13th February in Madrid, Spain. The organizers decided to invite to the prominent art gathering the CroArt Gallery from Zagreb to represent the art work ‘Oxygen 4’ and selected new media works by the contemporary video and digital artist Dan Oki.

Academic painter and sculptor Josip Diminić from Labin will present his art work in the Hungarian city of Baji. Art works that will be exhibited are from the graphic map ‘Istarski trgovi – Piazze Istriane’ (‘Istrian squares’), that originated in 1995 as a result of the collaboration of the eminent Croatian gallerist Marino Cettina from Umag, the author and poet Fulvio Tomizza.

The exhibition ‘Tilla Durieux and Zagreb’ will be opened in Berlin on January 27th as a part of the Long Night of the Museums event. At the opening ceremony actors will read excerpts from the works of Tilla Durieux and a jazz band Live from Zagreb will perform at the event.

The Exhibition ‘Zlatko Prica – Donation of Coil. A. Stankowski’ will be open on 27th January at the Croatian Embassy in Berlin, Germany. The curator of the exhibition is Snježana Pavičić, moderator of the XX Century art collection in the Croatian History Museum, the institution that owns the paintings from that collection.

The International Conference ’Remembrance and History in Central East Europe’ will take place between 19th and 22nd January in Zagreb. The whole idea is to gather the academic and student population around the subject of researching the modus of ‘the culture of remembrance in the context of actual transitional social and historical questions, the challenges of globalization that are proceeding from the issue of reviewing historical remembrance and the possibilities of constructing eligible identity models.

The 6th International Festival 'Century of Blues' will take place in the City of Zagreb between 15th and 21st January in the renowned jazz club B.P. Club.

The City Puppet Theatre from Split will give a guest performance at the 24th Fadjr International Theatre Festival with a play based on the Japanese folk tale ‘The Fan of Youth’ by Jasen Boko and directed by Joško Juvančić. The festival will take place between 22nd and 25th January in Teheran, Iran.

Painter, underground illustrator and comic author Igor Hofbauer will present his art works in The Club ‘Kocka’ (The Cube) in Belgrade. The opening is scheduled for 21:00h of 18th January. He is well known as a poster drawer and as a member of Club Močvara Design Team, with whom he attended on 11th International Biennale of Young Artists of Europe and the Mediterranean in Athens 2003.

Exhibition of artists' works and performance art happenings organized by the Brétigny Centre for Contemporary Art Bretigny (CAC Brétigny) as part of the 2006 Faits d’Hiver Festival, which will take place at the Micadanses studio in Paris. A multimedia manifestation – a series of performing arts projects organised by the city council. The founding tendency of the manifestation is the infiltration of art activities into urban life and intensified communication of the urban population with the city and its accompanying infrastructure.

Vinkovci Autumn is the biggest and most attractive festivity of authentic folklore from Slavonia, Baranja and western Srijem; it consists of a series of varied folkloric, sports and commercial manifestations. The central manifestation of the VINKOVCI AUTUMN is the National review o authentic folklore in which will be participating cultural-artistic groups from Croatia and the Croatian diaspora.

For the duration of PIF, in Zagreb theatre auditoriums and streets and squares of the city, numerous puppet shows are held – from traditional to completely modern experiments – for children and adults.

A performance art festival will take a place in a baroque city of Varaždin presenting eminent and recognizable artists from Croatia and abroad. Festival was founded five years ago by Croatian Association of Visual Artists in Varaždin.

A series of ten concerts of jazz music of various orientations and styles performed by local and foreign musicians; concerts will be held on Wednesdays, from June to August in the Lapidarium of the Heritage museum of the Poreč region. Jazz concerts have been held in the Lapidarij since 1996.

A concert cycle of classical music in the cities of Zagreb County: Samobor, Zaprešić, Vrbovec, Velika Gorica, Ivanić Grad, Sv. Ivan Zelina, Dugo Selo and Jastrebarsko. For the duration of this “music cycle” renowned artists will be performing at a number of concerts in each of these cities. The concerts will take place in sacral buildings and concert halls of individual cities and their surrounding areas. The concert cycle "Music Ring" was held for the first time in 2003.

With performances, street theater, video-play, installation-play, dancing party, circus and any other form of performing arts, FAKI festival will bring the low-budget alternative theater to the streets of Zagreb between 25 and 29 May 2004.

The Croatian Institute for Movement and Dance (Hrvatski institut za pokret i ples) is a not for profit organization instrumental in pioneering and enhancing conditions for the independent contemporary dance, movement and mime in Croatia. The Institute's longest standing project is Dance Week Festival (Tjedan suvremenog plesa), founded by Artistic Founding Director/ Producer Mirna Žagar. The Festival has, since its inception in 1982, presented well over 400 internationally acclaimed artists and companies.

The traditional national poetry festival "Goran's Spring" held in the memory of the great Croatian poet Ivan Goran Kovačić, takes place at Lukovdol and different locations in Croatia between 21 March and 21 June 2004.

The ninth annual Croatian puppet theatre called the Vukovar Puppet Spring takes place between 29 March and 3 April 2004.

Organized by Multikultura and SC Agencija, a two-day Gypsy music festival is taking place between 20 and 21 March at the SKUC Club Pauk in Zagreb.

TEST!, the fifth international student theatre festival, founded in 2000 with the aim of establishing a network of cooperation between students and independent theatre groups on a regional and European level, takes place between 15 and 20 March.

Pasionska baština, a multicultural manifestation held every year on the eve of Easter in the form of a string of fine art, musical, theatrical, literary and folkloric interpretations associated with the Passion of Christ and the Resurrection, will be held between 28 March and 7 April at different locations in Zagreb (Museum Mimara, Church of Sv. Katarine (Saint Catherine), Starogradska viječnica (Old cityhall), Basilica of the Heart of Christ, Church of Saint Peter.

This national festival of mid-length and short-length films takes place at different locations in Zagreb (Theatre ITD (large auditorium), Cinema SC, MM centre SC), between 9 and 14 March 2004.

Between 16 and 22 February 2004, the International Percussion Ensemble week is taking place at the Music School "Vatroslav Lisinski" in Bjelovar with participants from Brasil, France, Spain, USA and Croatia.

The third RAF (Review of Amateur Film) takes places this year between 29 February and 6 March in Zagreb. About 140 films with varied genres and length (duration 2 seconds - 20 minutes) from Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro, Australia, Switzerland and Croatia will be shown in the program.

From 18 March to 4 April, the Springtime Jazz Fever 2004, an annual international jazz event offers a series of concerts at the B.P.jazz club in Zagreb performed by international and local jazz artists.

From 18 to 22 February 2004, the Yamaha-Eurounit international jazz festival will present a selection of European jazz guitarists.

Century of Blues, an annual international music event held since 2000 presents the work of the blues bands from Europe mostly performing the Chicago-school style Blues. Organized by Jazzette records, the event takesplace between 10 and 20 January 2004 at the B.P. Club in Zagreb.

The fourth international "Ka siromašnom kazalištu"(Towards the Poor Theater) Festival takes place between 17 and 20 December 2003 in Split. The Festival has received support from the Ministery of Culture of Croatia and Split Municipality, and is organized by the Cultural Youth Center Split.

This year, the Dreamlike Bookfair in Istria will take place in Pula between 3 and 13 December. The bookfair has been created out of a dream of several people at play, gathered around a bookshop in Pula called Castropola. From a small, unpretentious book exhibition first held in 1995 as a result of longtime playing and dreaming of those people, the event turned into the biggest bookfair in the whole of Croatia.

The 7th Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin will take place in Berlin from the 11th to 22nd of November 2003 showing more than 300 cinema, video and multimedia works from Germany, France and 70 other countries including the Croatian artist Dalibor Martinis.

The first International festival of films shot without interruption, One Take Film Festival takes place in Zagreb between 14 and 16 November 2003.

The Zagreb salon is a representative annual exhibition of contemporary art of the Republic of Croatia established by the Zagreb Assembly in 1965, and its traditional patron being the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia. This year, the Salon will take place between 27 November and 27 December and have architecture as its central point.

From 5 to 13 November the fourth Earwing NO Jazz Festival presents top international contemporary musicians at the KSET Club in Zagreb.

From 5th until 9th November 2003, the town of Pula on the Croatian coast is hosting the 40th International Music Festival. The traditional festival of contemporary music initiated and conducted by the Croatian Composers’ Society will present the new achievements of the Croatian as well as international composers. In addition to concerts, there will be round tables, discussions on various aspects of authorship and meetings of the new generation of Mediterranean composers.

The third international festivl of art interventions in urban settings will be held in Zadar between 26 October and 16 November. Two mutually connected urban locations have been chosen for this year's project: the ancient Roman Forum and the promenade by the sea. The project will try and answer the issue as to how to make vestiges of cultural heritage meaningful in the future.

Traditionally, the Vatroslav Lisinski Hall in Zagreb hosts the Spring Jazz Festival in early spring and the International Jazz Days in October. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the Hall has prepared a treat for all jazz lovers with performances from the likes of the Vienna Art Orchestra playing the Duke Ellington's Sound of Love and guest musicians from Canada, Italy, USA, UK, Germany, France and Croatia.

Between 4 and 9 October, a rare occasion of an international theater festival of the blind people, is being organized in Zagreb by «Novi život», the drama studio by the blind.

Taking place in Zagreb for the second time, NEBO is an international festival of traditional, ethno, folk and world music interpreted in a modern way.
