21st Sarajevo Film Festival Awards

The awards ceremony held in the National Theatre in Sarajevo on Saturday night closed the 21st edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival, in which the Turkish film Mustang, directed by Deniz Gamze Ergüven, received the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Feature Film. The minority Croatian coproduction, Mladen Mitrović’s Chasing a Dream, won the Audience Award for Best Documentary, while The High Sun, directed by Dalibor Matanić and Eva Kraljević’s I Like That Super Most the Best won festival partner awards.

The 40th Toronto International Film Festival, running from September 10th to 20th, has announced films competing in the category Contemporary World Cinema. Among the selected films is Sparrows, written and directed by Rúnar Rúnarsson – coproduced by MP Film Production in Croatia – which will have its world premiere at this prestigious film festival.

Kinorama secures funds for development of three projects

Creative Europe Desk – MEDIA Office has announced results regarding subsidies intended for slate funding, for which the Croatian production house Kinorama ltd. secured funds for three projects in the amount of 73 000 EUR.  Furthermore, results have been announced for the festival support where four domestic film festivals have secured MEDIA Subprogram funds totaling 127 000 EUR.

Liburnia Film Festival starts a crowdfunding campaign

Liburnia Film Festival (LFF), an admission-free film festival screening the best Croatian documentaries of the year, started a crowdfunding campaign with the goal of rewarding the most talented Croatian documentary filmmakers for their current work and, in doing so, support their future projects. In order to do that, the LFF wants to introduce a financial Audience Award and Jury Award at the next, 13th Liburnia Film Festival which will be held from 25th to 29th of August this year in the port of Ičići, Croatia.

Interfilm production company announced that the official media partner for the promotion of the film The Priest’s Children in France will be the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, whose office in Paris suffered a terrorist attack on 7 January, resulting in 12 human casualties.

The Priest’s Children Seen in International Distribution by over 113,000 People

The French company WIDE, the international sales agent for the film The Priest’s Children by Vinko Brešan and produced by Interfilm, published a report on the global rates of this film in 2014. According to the audience measurement, in Germany the film was seen by 42,553 viewers, in Brazil by 31,454 people, in Hungary by 6,340 people, in Greece by 6,129 people and in Poland by 5,859 viewers.

Creative Europe Desk – MEDIA Office has published the results of the second deadline at its call for proposals for individual projects, festivals and selective distribution, as well as the results of the call for proposals for continuous training. These calls are implemented by the Creative Europe Programme – MEDIA subprogramme, and in the second round Croatian projects were allocated grants amounting to 205,100 Euro.

StopTrik Festival's Main Award Goes to Simulacra

The nine-minute animated film Simulacra by Ivana Bošnjak and Thomas Johnson, produced by Bonobostudio, has won the main award of the StopTrik International Film Festival in Maribor, the only European festival dedicated to stop-motion. This is the fourth recognition this film has won since its premiere in April this year. So far it has appeared at 27 international film festivals.
